Bolt Extractors
The Drill-Out® Broken Bolt Extractor is excellent for removing broken bolts and studs without damaging the threads in the hole. The drill body is manufactured using the finest quality hi-speed steel. The collet is produced from
hot die steel, using the finest steel of its type. All Extractors are made with a precision ground 118° left hand
cutting self-centering point, and are heat treated for toughness.
How it Works
|
Fast & Easy to Use
1: Place the Drill-Out tool into an electric drill and set for reverse operation. Move the collet up to the chuck.
Note: when the bolt is broken below a flange attached to a casting, reverse the collet as in (Fig. 1.)
2: Making sure the drill is set in reverse, place the tip of the Drill-Out on the center of the broken bolt and
begin drilling. Do not allow the collet to move down towards the tip while drilling. If so, thread the collet
back towards the chuck. Drill just deep enough to start a hole (approximately 1/16”).
3: Make sure the hole is started on center of the bolt. If you reversed the collet in step 1, change it back
at this time. Continue drilling. Stop just before you reach the front of the collet.
Do not let the collet touch the end of the bolt. (Fig.2)
4: Remove the Drill-Out tool from the broken bolt. Move the collet down towards the tip so that 2 threads
are showing. Bring drill up to speed and plunge it into the hole. The collet automatically
engages and extracts the broken bolt. (Fig.3)
